Privacy Policy

MeetNear ("we", "us") is a video chat service for adults that connects you with people near you. This policy explains what information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

The short version: we never record your calls. Your video goes directly between you and the other person (or through our relay if you hide your internet address). Other people never see where you are: only a rough distance and busy areas made of 3 or more people. We don't sell your data or use it for ads.

1. What we collect

Information	Why we need it
Account: your username, a scrambled (hashed) version of your password, whether you are male or female, your 18+ confirmation, and your email address if you choose to add one.	To create your account, match you with the opposite sex, keep MeetNear adults-only, and let you reset your password.
Approximate location: when you allow it, your location rounded to about 1 km. We keep only the most recent rounded position.	To match you with people nearby, show the busy-area map, and show your city. We never store your exact position.
Internet (IP) address and country, and your time zone.	Security (spam, abuse, bans), sign-up limits, working out whether payments are allowed where you are, and timing Hot Hour.
Activity: who you were matched with, call times and lengths, likes, "call again" links, compliments, games and reactions you send, reports, and "something felt off" feedback.	To run the features you use, keep people safe, and understand how the service is used (we keep aggregate statistics).
Verification: for men, a selfie you choose to send; for women, anonymous confirmations from people you've talked to.	To show a ✅ verified badge. The selfie is reviewed by a person and deleted as soon as a decision is made.
Payments: what you bought, the amount, and the public TRON transaction ID.	To give you what you paid for and keep financial records. We never see or store card or wallet keys.
Notifications: if you turn them on, a delivery address created by your browser.	To send the reminders you asked for.
Messages to support, including any contact details you give us.	To answer you, for example to send a password reset link.
Technical: a login cookie, settings saved on your device, and error reports.	To keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and fix problems.

2. What we never do

We do not record, store or watch your video or audio calls. Calls are peer-to-peer; when you hide your internet address they pass through our relay provider encrypted and are not stored.
We do not show anyone your exact location. Others see a rough distance (for example "~4 km away") and busy areas made of at least 3 people, drawn at the centre of a ~2 km zone.
We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising.

Please remember: the person you're talking to could record their own screen. Don't share anything on a call you wouldn't want saved.

3. What other users see

Your username, your cartoon avatar, a rough distance, whether you are verified, your top compliments, and anything you choose to show or say on a call. If you turn on "Hide my internet address" (on by default for women), the other person cannot see your IP address.

4. Who we share information with

Only with service providers that help us run MeetNear, and only what they need:

Railway (hosting; servers in the United States): stores the service and its database.
Cloudflare (call relay): carries encrypted call traffic when a direct connection isn't possible or when you hide your internet address.
OpenStreetMap / Nominatim (place names): receives only the centre point of a ~2 km area, never your own position.
DiceBear (avatars): receives only your avatar settings, not your name or account.
TronGrid (payment checks): we look up transfers to our own payment address.
IP-country services (country.is, geojs.io, ipwho.is): receive your IP address to tell us your country.
Your browser's push service (e.g. Google, Apple, Mozilla) delivers notifications you turned on.
Email provider (if email resets are switched on) sends password reset emails.

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect someone from serious harm, or as part of a sale or reorganisation of our business (with the same protections).

5. How long we keep it

Account information: until you delete your account.
Your rounded location for the busy-area map: replaced each time you open the app; "today" busy areas use the last 24 hours.
Selfies: deleted when reviewed. Error reports: 14 days. Busy-hour statistics: 14 days.
Payment records: kept as financial records, with your account link removed if you delete your account.
Reports and bans: kept as long as needed to keep MeetNear safe.

6. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live (for example under Nigeria's Data Protection Act 2023 or Qatar's Personal Data Privacy Protection Law No. 13 of 2016), you can ask to access, correct or delete your information, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent. You can:

Delete your account yourself at any time: Profile → Delete my account. This removes your account, likes, call-again links, compliments, location and notification settings.
Turn location, notifications and "Hide my internet address" on or off in your browser and profile.
Ask us anything about your data with the in-app Contact support form.

If you're unhappy with our answer you may contact your local data protection authority (in Nigeria, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission).

7. Age

MeetNear is only for people aged 18 or over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor is using MeetNear, report them in-app or contact support and we will remove the account.

8. Security

Passwords are stored only as strong one-way hashes; login sessions are protected cookies; connections are encrypted (HTTPS). No system is perfectly secure, so please use a password you don't use elsewhere.

9. International transfers

Our servers are in the United States, so your information may be processed outside your country. We use providers with appropriate safeguards and only share what's needed.

10. Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
